Demolition

BrizPlant demolishes houses, commercial buildings and industrial structures across Queensland, including the ones other contractors step around because asbestos is built through them.

With our own excavators, attachments and tipper fleet, demolition, asbestos controls and load-out run as one programme under one supervisor, with one contractor accountable instead of three.

What We Demolish

From Industrial Sheds to Queenslanders

Every structure gets the same sequence, services proven dead, asbestos dealt with, then the machine goes to work.

Commercial & industrial buildings

Warehouses, sheds and commercial premises, staged around tenancies and live operations where required.

Asbestos-integrated structures

Buildings where ACM is part of the fabric. Stripped first where intact, demolished under Class A controls where it is not.

Slabs, footings & hardstand

Concrete broken, sized and carted off, or crushed for reuse where the material validates clean.

Partial & internal strip-outs

Back-to-frame internal demolition and partial structure removals ahead of renovation or extension.

Sheds, garages & outbuildings

Secondary structures, carports and super-six fencing, often bundled with a soil scope.

Residential knockdowns

Houses, duplexes and unit blocks cleared for rebuild or sale, including highset Queenslanders with asbestos in every layer.

Our Process

How a Demolition Runs

Five stages, one contractor. The asbestos interface is where demolition jobs usually go wrong, here it is one contractor and one programme.

Book an assessment
1

Scope & structural review

Walk the structure, confirm what it is made of, review the asbestos register or commission an inspection where there is none.
2

Approvals & disconnections

Demolition approval sits with your certifier or council; we supply methodology and documentation, and coordinate power, water and comms disconnections.
3

Asbestos strip or integrated controls

Intact ACM is removed first as a standard licensed removal. Degraded material shifts the job to demolition under Class A controls with suppression and containment.
4

Mechanical demolition

The structure comes down under water suppression with exclusion zones held. Materials are separated at the machine, steel, timber, concrete, regulated waste.
5

Load-out & site clear

Our own tippers cart as the machine loads. The site is handed back graded, clear and documented, with waste dockets in the pack.

Demolition Done on the Record

The demolition itself is the easy part. What stands up afterwards is the paperwork around the asbestos, the waste and the neighbours.

Asbestos is identified before demolition starts, via the asbestos register, or an inspection and sampling where no current register exists.
Where licensed removal is in scope, notifiable work is lodged with WHSQ at least five days before commencement.
Structures with degraded ACM are demolished under Class A controls: continuous suppression, exclusion zones and air monitoring.
Demolition waste is separated on site, recyclable steel and concrete, clean fill, and Category 2 regulated waste tracked to licensed facilities.
Dust, noise and vibration controls are set per site, with neighbouring properties addressed in the work plan before the machine arrives.
Common Questions

Demolition FAQs

Asked on most commercial and industrial jobs.

Can you demolish a house that still has asbestos in it?

Yes, that is routine work for us. Intact material is stripped first under our removal licence; material too degraded to strip brings the whole demolition under Class A controls. Either way it is one programme, not a handover between contractors.

Who arranges demolition approval?

Building approval for demolition sits with a private certifier or council, normally arranged by the owner. We supply the methodology, insurances and licence documentation the application needs, and handle the WHSQ side ourselves.

What happens to the concrete and steel?

Steel goes to recycling. Concrete that validates clean is crushed and reused as fill where the site allows, or carted to a recycler, contaminated material travels as regulated waste instead. The waste split is priced up front.

Planning a knockdown or clearing a site?

Send the address and what you know about the structure. We will confirm the asbestos position, the approvals pathway and a fixed programme.
